IDA2001 has been endorsed by the European Educational Forum (EEF). |
Over the last decade or so, the size of machine-readable data sets has increased dramatically and the problem of "data explosion" has become apparent. In parallel with this recent developments in computing have provided the basic infrastructure for fast access to online data. In particular many advanced computational methods for extracting information from large quantities of heterogeneous data and for data representation are now beginning to mature. These developments have created a new range of problems and challenges for the analysts, as well as new opportunities for intelligent systems in data analysis. All this has led to the emergence of the field of Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA), a combination of diverse disciplines including Artificial Intelligence and Statistics in particular.
The School on Intelligent Data Analysis (IDA) will focus on the core techniques of Intelligent Data Analysis:
All courses are organized as to provide a wide description of the
theoretical and practical aspects of each discipline. For this purpose
also speakers from industry are invited to show practical and already implemented
applications of Intelligent Data Analysis techniques.
The target audience of the IDA Spring School are advanced undergraduate students, PhD students, postdoctoral students and academic and industrial researchers and developers. The School will take place at the University of Palermo (Italy) from March 26th and March 30th 2001.
